March 2019

Hello there!

International Women’s Day on March 8th provided a useful opportunity to reflect on the challenges women face in the workplace and to show that “glass ceilings” can be broken. But perhaps there’s one thing we never talk about…  Senior Employment Law & HR consultant Michelle Dixon has an entertaining and personal insight.

For the food services and catering sectors, allergens have the capacity to cause significant personal harm, and increasing public awareness and food standards agency activity means businesses should review their practices. Iain Rodgers, Mentor Health and Safety consultant, gives his thoughts.

There’s urgent news for anyone who carries out welding as part of their business – you must review your procedures in the light of new H&S guidance. We tell you the details.

Dealing with a death or serious injury in the workplace is, of course, an extremely challenging experience for any business owner or management team. Health and Safety consultant David Wark gives some tips.

And with Spring nearly upon us, we provide our regular update of changes coming into force in April.
